Six years have passed since the end of the Third Necromancer War. But the lands have not known peace in the interim. I hadn't read the first one before I read this, but I had no problem understanding what was going on. The way he describes some of the scenes seems almost out of a movie - I can picture exactly how it would look. It just seems very cinematic.
I felt it did a good job of adding some new twists to traditional "sword and sorcery" fantasy.
Totally didnt's see this coming. I thought the Piaris Legacy was a solo book. Standing alone. But Scott Gamboe shocked me by coming out with a sequel that surpassed my expectations. A fantastic follow up to a classic start. I had no idea what it could be about but it was a great story line. Many twists and turns followed with a solid conclusion. A great book.
"Archon's Gate" is a nice follow-up to "The Piaras Legacy." Mr. Gamboe did not take up the reader's time re-explaining all of his characters (a pet peeve of mine), but instead got right to the story. This book moved along a little faster than "The Piaras Legacy," which appealed to me, but I would like to have seen a little more development of the characters and lands introduced in this book. I would definitely read another book in this series, as well as recommend them to others.
