i generally don't read manga or anything, but this series had me hooked from the first issue. it's not super-sappy romance stuff, it doesn't read like a high school love fantasy. the characters have flaws and desires and very human needs. it moves along nicely enough, it's not over-the-top soap opera drama, it definitely takes its time in letting the characters breathe and grow.

my only complaint is that the translation is a bit odd. i don't know how to describe it. it doesn't really get in the way of the story, it just makes the reading a little...choppy?

This whole series is such a great deal! it's idealy for teens older than 16, because it is packed with drama, romance, sex, and alcohol. It's basically about two girls who are both named Nana, and they turn into the best of friends in Tokyo. Nana K. is very girly and naive, and she's also kinda a pushover. She falls for guys ALL THE TIME, and was cheated on by her bf. Nana K. is a tough band singer on the other hand..read on to find out more about these 2 awesome girls!!!
The adventures of the two Nanas continue as they finally meet and begin their unlikely friendship in volume two of the fun manga. On a cold night with the snow blowing, the train from they both are taking to Tokyo is delayed, and so the seatmates, Nana Osaki and Nana Komatsu (eventually called "Hachi" by the other Nana) meet up and begin to talk.

After the train arrives in Tokyo, the two Nanas believe they never will see each other again. Somehow, they do, and they end up sharing the rent on a rather nice, old-fashioned apartment in Tokyo. This is where their unlikely friendship, and thus the real story, begins.

The part I liked best about this volume was that the story actually finally started. The first volume was basically a pair of one-off stories designed to stand alone in case the series wasn't picked up for serialization. It was, and so the narrative picks up from some time after the first stories, which basically makes Volume one a massive prologue of sorts.

I think the best part was seeing the somewhat real-life struggles of the two Nanas and how they coped with the help of each other and their friends. It also was kinda funny to see the various fourth-wall breaking parts where the characters (mostly Hachi) appealed to the writer to stop doing "x" thing to them.

In all, a sweet and fun, but still fairly realistic, *shojo*cum*josei* series.
I will not be continuing this series at all. It wasn't that good and the story line got boring fast.

I have loved this manga since I first started reading it. But this product is great. It's what I expected.
Nana will always be one of my favorite stories <3 It came in great state and two days shipping.
