I laughed, I cried, I learned, I prayed, and I thanked God for people like these authors in this world! God bless them! The whole world needs to hear these messages in this book. I especially loved how each chapter started with a Bible quote and every chapter ended with a take away lesson. I took away so many lessons. THIS. This is a raw, honest look into the lives of real people dealing with real issues of today. The honest views and perspectives grab you and make you feel their pain, their joy, and their faith. I laughed out loud, I smiled with joy and pride and I cried with sadness and pain. It has been far too long since I've been as touched by a book as I was touched by this one. Their storytelling styles are entertaining and engaging in their own way and provide insights into both cultures genuinely. This book is a quick read at less than 200 pages but sticks with you far beyond that time. I will have a good book hangover for a long time to come. This would be a great book for a book club to discuss, esp. one that is diverse in its membership.
This is my first review. I read quite a bit, and rarely come across a book that makes me cry. I almost never read something that makes me laugh out loud. This book had me doing both several times. It is a quick and very entertaining read that covers parenting, education, race relations and faith in modern America. Highly recommended, this story is both insightful and inspirational.
A must read! So inspirational! The two women have such a strong faith! Once I started the book I couldn't put it down until I finished it!
This is a wonderful book with so many important messages of what is truly important. Both Anita and Tiffany are remarkable woman. I admire their faith, love of family and dedication to their careers and education. I couldn't put the book down.
A must read! This is such a well done, unique and excellent read. It will make you laugh and cry, and these ladies will teach you lessons that you never even realized you needed to learn. This book made me laugh and cry, but most of all it made me think about the great gifts God has given me. No, we aren't rich but we have clothes on our back, a roof over our heads and food for the table. And we have our faith! Thank you for a reminder that we are truly blessed and even in the worst of times, we can be a blessing to others. And if we just trust in God, He will answer our prayers in ways we would never imagine.
I enjoyed this book very much. The authors take you on a journey through two very different families led by two very strong women. An emotional, honest look into their lives as they celebrate success, mourn loss, laugh and embrace differences, learn to trust, and tap into any and all resources for their students and children. The ‘Lessons Learned’ after each chapter were a nice breakaway.
