The second in the series and I continue to enjoy it. The talking to animals gift added humour which was great. Becca and Owen are nice couple.

Heat of the Moment is another awesome novel by Lori and she never disappoints her readers !
A must have novel full of suspense , adventure spiced with her witty humor !

I thoroughly have enjoyed this second story of the taggart witches. The storyline,characters,plot,magic mixed in is a very fun read and before you know it you are attached to the characters and want to know what will happen next. In fact the August release can't come soon enough for the third installment.
Becca was a vet who could talk to animals and they could talk to her in her mind. Owen was her friend and her first love, but he left and told her he didn't think they should be together. It hurt but she went away to vet school and took over the old vet's practice. Now he's back and she is learning stuff about her life she never knew before and her life is going to change forever. 😋
Although this is book 2 in a series, this book can stand alone. I do, however, enjoy reading series books in the order in which they were meant to be read as they often build upon each other.

In this book you have Becca, a doctor of veterinary medicine, who learns that pets are missing, but only black pets. When she sees a light in a house she knows is supposed to be vacant and abandoned, she is surprised to find her old friend and lover, Owen, has come home and found his home was being used as a sacrificial site for these self-same animals, as well as several more. When finding each other brings back a lot of old emotions and hurts, they attempt to keep away from each other, but you can soon see that that is not going to last very long.

When someone tries to kill Becca in her own home, things begin to move even faster, and I did suspect who the attempted killer was shortly after that attack, but I was very much surprised to find out who the other killer was. When Becca's sister, Rayne, joins in the search for the killers, along with her fiance, Bobby, things become quite interesting. Not only is there a bit of suspense, but there is quite a bit of humor in this as well, and I'm sure you will all enjoy it.
Becca is a veterinarian who animals have always been drawn to. She’s always been able to hear their thoughts and had conversations with them, but due to others thinking she was nuts, even lies to herself that she’s actually doing it. Owen, the only man Becca ever loved, is a K-9 handler and both he and his dog Reggie were injured in Afghanistan and are currently recovering. He’d broken her heart when joining the Marines ten years earlier and she isn’t sure she wants to see him now. But when someone attempts to kill her, there’s no keeping him away.

The focus is now on the second sister, but her sister Raye and the people we met in the first book do show up for intel and planning, including Cassandra and Edward. It’s obvious to the reader who one of the bad guys is, but another one is actually shocking.

I absolutely loved both Reggie (the dog) and Pru, the girls’ natural mother who is now a wolf. Raye is able to see and speak with their father’s ghost. Becca can communicate with their mother. The characters are easily likeable, including Becca’s family and the boy that works for her. Hope to see him again.

What I didn’t like were a couple of repeats from the first book the father that raised the girls each telling the boyfriends to stay away, and how the boyfriends react when told who and what the girls are. But those are fairly minor issues.
